If you have an "odd" shaped dog like a Lhasa apso, I'd recommend going up a size. I measured my dog as instructed on the video. Based on these measurements, I bought XS. While the harness fitted well in the neck area, it was too narrow on the chest, even on the widest setting. I went up a size (to S). Now, the harness fits well over the chest but is very wide (loose) on the neck area, even on the tightest setting. Other than this oddity, the harness is very light and my dog seems to prefer this one over the previous one he had. The little pocket that stores ID/rabies vx tag is a nice feature (it prevents clinking noise) but I worry if a human society officer or stranger were to find your dog, they wouldn't know to look inside for the tag. (Thank goodness for microchips.) Maybe there should be a label: "Look inside for nametag!"

This is a fantastic harness! Super adjustable, so you can get a perfect fit on dogs with non-standard shapes like my sheltie pup (small neck, short body, deep chest). Be warned though, the adjusting is not entirely obvious (I thought it was too small at first, 'till I figured out how to loosen the back straps properly). While it's not meant for lifting dogs, in a pinch I can securely lift my pup with no discomfort to him - now that he's an over-confident teenager, it's a relief to know I can easily retrieve him if he makes poor life choices :D. Initially I wasn't sure this harness would really be worth the price - it so is.

I love this harness. The buckles are easy to use, even on a wiggling puppy. It is light weight, not bulky at all but still keeps Rede, a 14 wk old Border Terrier, safely under control while not impeding her movements. The reflective trim, light loop and overall design make this the perfect harness for us. Ruffwear nailed it with this harness!

I just got this harness for my pup and the fit seems really good. The color is bright and the harness looks well made. My dog is 29" at the widest point but I got the L/XL because she is long in the body and I wanted to avoid chafing at the arms. I have the Ruffwear Front Range Harness but I prefer this one for my dog because she is not a puller and I wanted it light for hiking and bright so she stands out. If it proves to be durable over time it will be a five star item.

I have been looking for a back ring harness that fits my fur baby perfectly. The size I got was a medium and is very adjustable, dries out quickly after your fur baby has went for a swim. So far this harness has been great. It fits well, though is not as secure a fit as our Front Range harness. It’s a lot lighter though, so will be perfect for summer. It also dries much quicker, which makes it great for rainy days.

I like the quality of the harness, I love the bright blue colour, I love that it’s super lightweight. And it fits my little Bear very well. The only thing I would change, is that I wish there was more of a size difference in the front chest piece. Bear was between sizes and I went with the smaller harness in the hopes that chest piece would be a little more narrow compared to the larger size.

A great harness. Fantastic, bright colours. Multiple adjustment points helped to make the fit secure for my dog’s “hard to fit” body type (narrow chest, large rib cage). Because of the (back) location of the clasp, I don’t recommend this style for dogs that have a tendency to pull.

Great harness and leash combo for hiking where the dogs have to be on leash ! The traffic handle is long enough to be comfortable but really useful to walk with when crossing streets or dogs.

We have always used the slightly larger, heavier harnesses for our medium sized dogs but we now have smaller Shorkies. The slightly smaller, lighter size harness is excellent for them! However, as with the larger, heavier brand, I do wish there was some sort of attachment that allowed the leash to be attached to the chest area as well as the back loop. Small dogs also pull and since we are seniors, it is dangerous to be pulled around during a dogs training period. This harness is a bonus for smaller dogs such as Yorkies &/or Shorkies! Having used both of the harnesses, other than what we consider this one design flaw, Ruffwear is a wonderful, beautifully designed product! Hollae
